13.1-Im Only Half Crazy

I ran the half marathon! I finished 40/124 in my age division. It took me 2hrs. I signed up to run another in 3weeks :) ADDICTING!! Lol. I will post more about the half later.

The Final Countdown

Race day countdown has begun!!! 10days away :) so close. Im starting to get a bit nervous. So now Im trying to resist the temptation to run like crazy. Super excited though, but cant wait to officiaaly be able to say “I ran a half marathon”

It’s so exciting to see how far I have come in my marathon training these past 6 weeks. I remember when I first started to train it was a big deal for me to run more than 3 miles. Its crazy to see that now I can just get up and go run 6, 7, 8, 9, 10+ miles and be totally fine with it. I even ran 13 miles 3 days ago just to see if I could do it! I was really thinking about this today because I haven’t ran in 3 days (took time off after my self-imposed half-marathon sat.) and I really just wanted to get out today and run a little. I originally was just gonna run 2mi just to have gotten some running in, but I felt so good on my run that I just kept going. I ran 7mi with no problem whatsoever today HILL INCLUDED! It is such a good feeling to know that all of this training I am doing is producing results even though it has taken quite some time to get here. 18 days until Race Day. Until then: Keep Calm and Run On!

Yesterday felt like the greatest run ever! On my training plan I was scheduled to run 11miles. I went out and started on my 11miles and as I was running I felt super good. I wasnt out of breath, I wasnt too fatigued, so I started thinking maybe I can run a little further. Long story short I RAN 13 MILES!!!!! I am so excited and feeling super ready for the upcoming half marathon :) I’m really sore today…especially my achilles tendon ouch! Anyone have any advice on half marathon recovery?
Also I would most definitely like to note that i did this in under 2 hrs!!! BAM :) I ran 13mi in 1hr57min. I am so amped about how well training is going. Now, since I have officially seen that I can run 13miles I dont think I will be running any more than 9 for training before the race. I have 2 weeks left! So so so crazy how fast this has come!
Definitely in need of more music to add to my play list as well. What does everyone like to run to?

I DID IT!!! After like 5 weeks of training I am FINALLY in double digit mileage; and it feels so great. (sidenote- I have never experienced instant soreness until today lol). I think this is a pretty major accomplishment and I’m even more pumped about the half marathon now. Only have to add 3.1 more mile to this and I’m there!!! WOWZA, today has been such a good day. I even ran the 10mi faster than what I was originally thinking. I ran it in 1h29min today! Definitely patting myself on the back for this one…after I shower of course LOL.

Today I ran the farthest I have run in so far in my training. I have 4 weeks until I officially run my first half marathon ever and I’m getting so excited!!!! I ran 8 miles today and surprisingly it felt really good. I was not gasping for air at the end, my legs did not feel like jello, and I wasn’t all discombobulated. I took some Gatorade gel as well as had some Clif Shot Blocks before my run today and I most definitely do think they made a world of difference. The soreness is kind of starting to set in now, but oh well I am finished for today ha ha and I can take it pretty easy tomorrow as well.
I almost procrastinated on getting out and running today, but then I remembered last week when I had to run in the dark and had that creepy run experience LOL. I was not able to go out and run this morning because it was still pretty dark..and running in the dark is still creepy day or night ha ha. I worked all day and oh goodness sake was it chaotic and busy today!!! So after my day of work today I was in no way pumped for running 8 miles. Glad I went out and did it anyway though.

Running Songs?!?!?!

I need to add more songs to my playlist that I listen to while training. What songs energizes you while working out? Right now I really like the song “Dog Days are Over” by Florence and the Machine. Its so crazy to think that I’ve ran around 60 miles in 26 days!!! So excited for this half marathon!
